Sourcing

Every factual claim in our essays is sourced from primary research where available, or from named, qualified secondary sources where primary sources are inaccessible or behind paywalls. We prefer peer-reviewed journals, federal and state regulatory documents, and direct interviews with practitioners over blog posts, industry press releases, and Wikipedia.

When we cite a study, we try to name the authors and the year. When we cite statutory language, we link to the text. Our goal is for a motivated reader to be able to retrace our steps.

Original writing

All essays published on Chunky Academy are written by named human contributors. We do not publish AI-generated content presented as original editorial work. We do use AI tools for routine editorial support — fact-checking, grammar review, title brainstorming — and we disclose when generative AI has materially contributed to a piece.

Disclosure of our affiliate relationship

Chunky Academy Media LLC, the publisher of this site, shares brand heritage and ownership origin with Chunky Academy Inc., a California craft operator. The two entities operate as separate businesses with separate editorial and commercial functions. This affiliation is disclosed on our about page and in every essay where we reference work done by the affiliated operator.

Editorial decisions — what we cover, which sources we cite, how we frame conclusions — are made by the editorial team independent of any commercial input. The affiliated operator does not review essays before publication and does not have the ability to require or prevent coverage of any topic.

No sponsored content

We do not accept paid placements, native advertising, sponsored posts, or free samples in exchange for coverage. We do not run display advertising. Our revenue model is long-term brand development for our publisher and affiliate network, not per-article monetization.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it publicly. Minor corrections (typos, link fixes, clarifying wording) are made in-place and noted with the date at the bottom of the essay. Substantive corrections — anything that changes the meaning of a claim — are disclosed with a dated correction notice and the original language preserved in the notice.
